UTM Link Builder

Add campaign tags to a link so visits from ads, emails and posts show up correctly in Google Analytics.

Tagged link

This tool runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.

How to use it

Enter the page address and the campaign details: source (where the traffic comes from, such as facebook or newsletter), medium (the type of traffic, such as cpc, email or social), campaign name and optionally term and content. The builder adds them to the link so the visits appear correctly in Google Analytics.

Naming conventions that keep reports clean

Use lowercase everywhere: “facebook” and “Facebook” are counted as two different sources.
Pick one name per source and stick to it.
Use medium for the channel type and source for the specific site or platform.
Use content to tell apart two links in the same email or two ads in the same campaign.

Where to use UTM links

Use them on links you place outside your website: social posts, paid ads, email newsletters, QR codes and your Google Business Profile website link. Never add UTM tags to internal links between pages on your own site; it splits sessions and corrupts your reports.

Our guide to measuring SEO honestly covers how to set up reporting you can trust.
